The Page Rank 10 Experiment - Can It Live Up To Its Name?

This is an update to the original article about the Page Rank 10 Experiment where the page rank 10 web site tries to achieve a Google page rank of 10 within 2 years. The participating site that refers the most traffic to the page rank 10 site gets to keep the page rank 10 site at the end of the contest if it achieves the page rank level of 10.

The Page Rank 10 Experiment is continuing to grow, but is it meeting with any success? Ultimately, it seems only logical that the success of this project can be measured but only in one way, the page rank that it actually achieves.

The site started on April 20th, 2006 and as of today, January 20, 2007, it is currently showing 2540 back links in Google. New sites continue to sign up as participants in this experiment on a regular basis.

One can only wonder what will be the ultimate outcome of this attempt to achieve an unthinkable and most likely unreasonably objective of a page rank 10! I don?t know how many sites currently rank as a PR10. Google owns the only sites I can recall matching this page rank level.

As of this writing the site reports 111.799 unique visitors since 4/20/2006. The last time I wrote about this, they were predicting an increase in page rank from PR4 to PR6. I have personally seen that Google has updated its page rank for at least some sites since the last article I wrote about this.

The page rank of the page rank 10 web site did not increase during this update. It is still registering a page rank of 4. Owning a web site with a page rank of 10 would open up huge opportunities for the new owner.

But, even if it were to occur, how long could it actually achieve this page rank? Probably not very long as the incentive for other sites linking to this site would be gone once there was a new owner.
